A new gem in Argyle that introduces a sneak peak into Indonesian cuisine and we absolutely enjoyed the food. The place has a simpler set up so you can focus on what’s put in front of you. The stir fried noodles was the only dish we didn’t get to try but we got to try many other new dishes. Here’s our most to least favorites: - Sate Ayam (bbq chicken skewer): outstanding addictive smoky chicken skewers that is definitely a must get - Nasi remas with tender beef rendang, spicy crunchy peanuts and anchovies, flavorful curry jackfruit, and addictive sambal: so fun and flavorful and definitely worth coming back for. - Nasi goreng combo: heartwarming, familiar, filled with meats and veggies - Crispy chicken skin (seasonal) - Pecel sayur: peanutty cold veggie mix - Soto betawi: creamy sweet and savory coconut soup with very tender beef, comes with a spicy tart sauce that must be paired with - Mie Aya: egg noodle The drinks are large and on the sweeter side. I’m definitely coming back the bbq skewer, nasi remas, and the kwe tiau!

My friend and I both ordered the build-your-own nasi plates along with the chicken satay appetizer. The satay was flavorful, but it tasted more like it had been boiled than grilled, so it lacked the smoky char I was expecting. The sides and sambals that came with the nasi plates were uniformly excellent and easily the highlight of the meal. We also tried the salted squid, which was tasty, but the portion was surprisingly smallβ€”just one small pieceβ€”which felt a bit underwhelming for a main dish. The duck and chicken portions were more generous and well seasoned, but unfortunately both were on the dry side.

I have been waiting so long for an authentic Indonesian restaurant, and finally, Chicago has one!! Woohoo!! I came during the grand opening at lunchtime and had the mie ayam + bakso, which is my absolute comfort food. I also had the nasi rames with bebek madura and other condiments, the betutu satay, and the crispy stuffed tofu (aka tahu isi). OMG, everything was so good!!! I even came back again for dinner on the same day! I stopped by TWICE, for real!! Thanks, Garuda!! The owner was so sweet, and the team was professionalβ€”they really know what they are doing!

The food were delicious, almost all of Indonesia’s best dishes are available at Garuda Restaurant, from Fried Rice, Satay, Meatball Soup, Chicken Noodle, Fried Tofu, etc. The beverages options are also plenty, and perfect to quench the thirst after enjoying the richness and flavourful dishes prepared by an Indonesian cheff. The owner, Mr. David is very friendly and attentive to the customers. It’s a must visit restaurant and worth every penny. I’ll definitely be one of the regular customers of the restaurant 😊
